In todays edition of the NYT, Maureen Dowd chastises those who call for the President to show a little "American Spunk" to the nation, instead of the current gloom and doom that is being dished out by the Administration.

Yes we need to be realistic about the many economic problems our Country faces. However, I agree with former Pres. Clinton that President Obama should provide a optomistic tenor to what needs to be done. This is what leaders like Lincoln, Roosevelt and Reagan did during times of crisis and I dare say that they were very serious about the direness of their times.
