Boy oh Joy

It's been a long summer (fall) but I am back.  I have to comment on the Joy Behar Show on CNN.  Last night I flipped it on, why I still don't know.  However when one of her guest, I believe Harry Shearer (sp) mentioned that a certain Republican Senator was a RINO, Joy was not familar with this acronym.  Any credibility as a political observer is lost, if she had such cred.  All she can do is hammer Sarah P...

Seperation of Church and State

Not trying to get into a big fuss over the establishment clause, but how is the lastest IHSA policy banning prayer before State tournament games played at private schools not exactly what the 1st amendment protects against.  The State is restricting religion in this case.  This is one of the reasons people send their children to religious schools and now they are told they cannot pray there?

We all would like to know...

My local Township office is having a week full of events to explain the different services it provides for our community.  I would like an explaination as to why we need a Township level of government myself.  The State of Illinois has the most levels of government of any State in the Union.  It has never been explained to me why the County government could not hand the assesments and services that the T.S. provides.

And the beat goes on...

After the insane political display by the screen writer from "Milk" at last nights Academy Awards, Andrew Breitbart 's column from yesterday is even more on target.  Read it to get a better idea of what the conservative movement must do to reestablish their position in the national argument.  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/02/conservatives_need_a_hollywood.html

A liitle more hope please...

In todays edition of the NYT, Maureen Dowd chastises those who call for the President to show a little "American Spunk" to the nation, instead of the current gloom and doom that is being dished out by the Administration.  http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/22/opinion/22dowd.html?_r=1&ref=opinion

Yes we need to be realistic about the many economic problems our Country faces.  However, I agree with former Pres. Clinton that President Obama should provide a optomistic tenor to what needs to be done.  This is what leaders like Lincoln, Roosevelt and Reagan did during times of crisis and I dare say that they were very serious about the direness of their times.

Not of this world...

The ELCA (Lutheran) Task force, a 15 member team has decided to recommend to the leadership to allow clergy in committed gay relationships to serve openly.  A few years earlier the leadership ruled that gay pastors could serve as long as they were celibate.  While I did not believe in this form of "don't ask don't tell" at the time it is a far cry from this current stance.

This new ruling condones relationships of this kind through out the church.  While I beleive people have a right to self determination, I find it disturbing in the church.  I would like your opinions.    Read the story here http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-lutheran-task-force-web,0,1159342.story

Big brother will be watching

The latest idea from new Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood about having computer chips in cars and charging drivers by the mile should have both red and blue staters up in arms.  For the people who are screaming about NSA monitoring of U.S. citzens phone calls this should send up a flare.  As a conservative I to do not like government knowing where I am at all times either.

I am also confused by this idea coming from the Obama administartion.  To raise more tax dollars it will be nessisary for tax payers to drive more to increase revenue.  Yet not six months ago we were told that we drove to much.  This will be another tax that hurts business.

Yes our I-pass probably can be tracked as well (which does not please me) but this is big brother to the extreme.  Why don't we simply go to one world currency and take the mark right now and get it over with...

Update- The Obama team has claimed that this is idea is not going to happen.  Read it

Burris must go

It is extremely disapointing that it took less than 2 months before Senator Burris proved to be concealing important information from the State legislature.  In December this guy could not get enough media attention by claiming he was the rightful appointee to the U.S. Senate.  Now he is in hiding from the MSM and won't answer any questions.

This is strangly similar to our new President.  He talks about transperancy and Bi-partisanship and now his staff will not answer questions. As for moving across the aisle, well you be the judge.

Roland Burris concealed information during his hearing about his relationship with the Governers team.  Then after installation in Congress he attemps to revise history.  Obviously he is on one of the FBI tapes or I am sure this would not have come to light.

Darlene is in...

Rep. Darlene J. Senger of the 96th is co-sponsor of HB379 with the other Representitives mentioned earlier.  She was a part of last weeks press conference, however she was not listed in the State of Illinois database as a sponsor.  I have since checked with sources and I am happy to report she is still on board.  Well done Rep. Senger.

Stop "pay to play" in Illinois

Rep. Michael G. Connelly of the 48th disrict is the chief sponsor of HB379 which in short calls for a reverse auction for the bidding of State contracts.  This is important legislation that needs your support.  Congratulations to Michael W. Tryon - Paul D. Froehlich - William D. Burns  for Co-sponsoring this bill.  This bill is currently in committee.  Please reach out to your Representitive/Senator with your support for this much needed change in the way the State of Illinois does business.  This will effectivly eliminate "Pay to Play"!

The Committe chair Jack D. Franks  has the responsibility to drive this bill to the floor.  Please contact him and express your support for this .
